A Brief Introduction to Novel Writing
A two hour workshop with Richard Skinner

Richard Skinner, Director of the Fiction Programme at the Faber Academy and a tutor on its six-month ‘Writing a Novel’ course, will be running a two-hour workshop from 7pm to 9pm on Monday 2nd February at Blackwell’s Bookshop.
This workshop will involve two long exercises, one on plotting and one on point of view, both of which should shed light on these issues for those who have embarked, or are about to embark, on a long piece of fiction.
Richard Skinner is the author of three novels, all published by Faber & Faber. The Red Dancer <http://richardskinner.weebly.com/the-red-dancer.html> has been translated into seven languages. The Mirror <http://richardskinner.weebly.com/the-mirror–the-velvet-gentleman.html> consists of two short novels, The Mirror and The Velvet Gentleman. A translation of The Velvet Gentleman was shortlisted in France for the Prix Livres & Musiques. He has also written a writer’s handbook entitled Fiction Writing <http://richardskinner.weebly.com/fiction-writing.html> . His poems have been published in various magazines including Faber & Faber’s First Pressings, Staple, Brand and Magma. For many years, Richard was an Associate Tutor at Goldsmiths College, London, where he taught on the MA Creative & Life Writing.
